What is SoGEA?

SoGEA stands for Single Order Generic Ethernet Access. Up until now, to deliver broadband to a home or office you needed to have a traditional phone line installed. SoGEA broadband doesn’t run over a phone line; SoGEA is a dedicated line that delivers a broadband connection.

In the biggest change to telecommunications in 30 years, the PSTN and ISDN will be switched off by December 2025, and a stop-sell of these services is scheduled for 2023. This means connectivity will no longer be supported by traditional telephone lines and businesses will need to switch to a new, Single Order broadband product.

How does this effect your business?

Traditional voice and broadband customers will need to switch to a future-proof solution in the next five years and at Telecom Networks we want to ensure the switch is seamless for our customers.

SoGEA has been created because there is less demand for traditional phone line services within businesses and homes. Many businesses are choosing to implement VoIP or IP phone solutions that only need a broadband connection to make calls. With the consumer shift towards VoIP, traditional phone lines are becoming redundant.

What are the advantages of SoGEA to customers?

Whether you are currently using FTTC and want to make the switch to SoGEA, or a new business in need of a strong broadband connection, we can help you find a service that works for your budget and your data needs.
